The Ogun State Government has trained finance and revenue officers from various revenue-generating agencies on the use of the E-Cashier Point of Sale (POS) system to enhance transparency and efficiency in tax collection.
Speaking at the training session organized by Express Payment Solutions Limited in Abeokuta, Commissioner for Finance and Chief Economic Adviser, Mr. Dapo Okubadejo, emphasized the importance of equipping officers with the necessary skills to operate the POS system effectively. He noted that the initiative aims to ensure accurate revenue tracking and eliminate cash leakages.
Represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mr. Adesina Towolawi, Okubadejo stressed that the E-Cashier system would foster accountability and seamless transactions in tax collection.
“The POS system is designed to generate real-time reports, enhancing transparency and increasing the state’s Internally Generated Revenue (IGR),” he said.

He also reiterated the government’s policy on non-cash collection, urging officers to ensure that all funds are promptly transferred into the state’s account.
An IT expert from Express Payment Solutions Limited, Mr. Sikiru Raji, highlighted the technical features of the POS system, including 4G and 5G compatibility and Wi-Fi capability, making it more efficient for tax collection in rural areas.
According to Raji, the system upgrade will ensure that more taxpayers are captured, ultimately boosting Ogun State’s revenue generation efforts.
