The Ogun State Police Command has arrested five suspects, including a father and his son, during a series of intelligence-led operations carried out across different parts of the state.

The command also recovered four firearms, including two dane guns, a locally made pistol, a locally fabricated pistol, one live cartridge, and a stolen Tecno Android phone valued at N180,000.

The development was disclosed on Friday in a statement shared via X by the Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, Oluseyi Babaseye.

According to the statement, operatives attached to the Afon Division arrested Fatai Adegbola and his 23-year-old son, Waliu Adegbola, following a complaint of theft received on May 22, 2026.

Police said Waliu allegedly stole a Tecno Android phone worth N180,000 from a residential apartment on May 8.

“Acting on credible intelligence, operatives tracked and recovered the stolen phone,” the statement said.

The police added that a search warrant was later executed at the suspects’ residence, leading to the recovery of a locally made pistol and a dane gun allegedly hidden in the house.

In another operation, officers attached to the Ilisan Remo Division reportedly recovered a locally fabricated pistol and one live cartridge during a routine patrol around the Ilisan Remo Roundabout on May 27.

The firearm was said to have been abandoned at the location before it was secured and deposited in the division’s armoury, while investigations continue to determine its ownership.

The command also confirmed the arrest of 25-year-old Inioluwa Adesanya by operatives of the Ode Remo Division over the alleged theft of a dane gun belonging to a resident.

Police investigations revealed that the suspect allegedly gained access to the complainant’s residence while working as a carpenter’s assistant during a renovation project before stealing the firearm.
