Ogun Police Raid Baby Factory, Rescue Two Pregnant Women, Four Children

The Ogun State Police Command has raided a suspected baby factory in Mowe, rescuing two pregnant women and four children and arresting six suspects.

The operation took place at about 8am on Monday, August 24, 2026, following intelligence on suspected human trafficking and illegal adoption.

Police spokesman, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, disclosed this in a statement issued on Tuesday, August 25, saying operatives raided the facility on Toluwalase Street, Abaren Village, via Gbarinmole, Mowe.

The rescued women were identified as 23-year-old Ilesanmi Foluke, seven months pregnant, and 20-year-old Ejekwa Melody, eight months pregnant.

The four children recovered comprised two boys and two girls.

The arrested suspects are Florence Glory Ogbona, 58; Magdalene Julius, 63; Chidike Egwuonwu, 40; Onyechu Chidike, 35; Stephen Ogbona, 39; and nurse Oseni Kusamotu Idaya.

Further investigation led detectives to a Mowe hospital, where 26-year-old Blessing Bright Effiong was receiving treatment after reportedly delivering a baby boy on August 20.

Police said the newborn could not be accounted for, prompting the nurse’s arrest as efforts continued to locate the infant.

The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Eleweran, Abeokuta, for further investigation.

The command said detectives would establish the scope of the suspected operation, locate the missing child and prosecute anyone found culpable.

Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, commended the operatives and reaffirmed the command’s resolve to combat human trafficking and child trading.

The operation comes months after the NSCDC rescued 18 pregnant women and 10 children from a suspected baby factory in Okuju, Ilado, Badagry, Lagos, in April 2026.

Ogun also recorded a similar case in December 2020, when police rescued four pregnant women and four children from a suspected baby factory in the Ofada-Mowe axis.
