Segun Ayinde, Abeokuta

The Ogun State Community, Social Orientation and Safety Corps, also known as So-Safe Corps, has rescued several victims lured from Ghana under false job promises and subsequently held captive in a building within the state.

The Corps’ Public Relations Officer, Moruf Yusuf, confirmed the development in a statement issued to journalists in Abeokuta over the weekend.

Yusuf explained that the corps acted on credible intelligence that the victims were being detained in a three-bedroom apartment located in the Oke-Sioni area, opposite Comfort Zone Hotel in Mowe, Obafemi Owode Local Government Area.

He said one of the victims, identified as Anita, was enticed to Nigeria with the promise of employment but was later held captive along with others, dashing her hopes of working with any legitimate organization.

According to Yusuf, ten individuals were rescued during the operation. They include three females and seven males, among them a Nigerian man who served as the building’s security guard.

He disclosed that the victims had been handed over to the Nigeria Police Force at the Redeemed Divisional Headquarters for further investigation and possible prosecution.
