The President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, Senator John Azuta Mbata, has denied reports claiming that the apex Igbo socio-cultural organisation endorsed President Bola Tinubu for the 2027 general elections.

The clarification follows statements by some individuals who presented themselves as Ohanaeze leaders, alleging that the body had declared support for President Tinubu’s re-election bid.

Reacting to the development, Mbata described the claims as false and misleading, stressing that Ohanaeze Ndigbo is a non-partisan socio-cultural group without the jurisdiction to endorse political candidates.

“This (endorsement) is not to my knowledge. Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide is a socio-cultural organization, not a political party. It is not in a position to endorse or refuse to endorse anyone,” Mbata said.

He further urged the public to disregard the claims, insisting that there is only one recognised leadership of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, under his authority as President General.
