The Ohanaeze Youth Council has declined an invitation to attend the City Boy Movement rally scheduled to take place in Owerri, Imo State, describing the invitation as disrespectful to Igbo youths.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the 12th of March, 2026, the group’s National President, Igboayaka O. Igboayaka, urged Igbo youths to stay away from the rally organised in honour of Seyi Tinubu, the son of Bola Tinubu.
Igboayaka said inviting the council to the rally was inappropriate given the continued detention of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, by the federal government.

The youth body also accused the founder of the City Boy Movement of flaunting wealth and travelling in private jets at a time when many young Nigerians are dealing with poverty, unemployment, and harsh economic conditions.
“The Seyi Tinubu City Boy Movement event in Owerri is just a political event but an orchestrated event to mock Ndigbo, especially Igbo youths on the continuous incarceration and imprisonment of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu,” Ignoayaka said.
