Senior Pastor of the Mountain of Liberation and Miracles Ministries, Chris Okafor, on Sunday publicly apologised to Nollywood actress Doris Ogala, kneeling before his congregation as he sought forgiveness over what he described as past “mistakes.”
The apology followed weeks of heated public controversy between the cleric and the actress, which has played out largely on social media. Ogala had accused Okafor of engaging in an affair with her, making and breaking promises of marriage, sharing explicit content, and allegedly offering her $10,000 to retract claims that she was hired by rival pastors to tarnish his image.
In a viral video shared on X by @NigeriaStories, Okafor was seen at the pulpit addressing worshippers during a church service.
“Listen, we’re not joining issues. Mistakes have been made in the past, and I tender an apology to everybody,” he said.
He specifically mentioned Ogala, adding, “I am sorry to everyone I have offended, to Doris Ogala also. I say sorry and apologise to everyone that I’ve offended.”
The cleric further expressed readiness to make amends. “I’m ready to make a restitution to anyone, anybody, any lady I have offended. I am sorry. Forgive me,” he said, while acknowledging his imperfections.
Okafor then knelt before the congregation, drawing cheers from worshippers, as he appealed for forgiveness and prayers.
Despite the apology, the pastor insisted that the allegations against him were untrue. “Everything that was said is not true,” he said, adding that many of the claims contained “so many lies.”
Ogala later responded during an Instagram Live session, stating that she had forgiven him but rejected his assertion that she lied.

“Chris Okafor, I forgive you, but there’s a problem. Where you said everything is a lie. I have a problem with that because I don’t lie,” she said.
The controversy began earlier this month after Ogala alleged that Okafor promised to marry her after allegedly contributing to the breakdown of her previous relationship. The claims resurfaced shortly after the cleric reportedly married his new bride, identified as Pearl, earlier in the week.
In several emotional videos shared online, Ogala accused the pastor of betrayal and emotional manipulation, claiming their relationship spanned several years from about 2017. She alleged that she ended her previous marriage at his urging and suffered emotional distress when the relationship ended abruptly.
Okafor had initially dismissed the allegations, stating that he would allow legal authorities to handle the matter. However, continued public pressure and the actress’s persistence appear to have led to his public apology.
