Okonkwo to Jonathan: ‘Don’t Even Think About 2027 Presidency’

Kenneth Okonkwo, a seasoned Nollywood actor, lawyer, and politician, has warned former President Good Jonathan to steer clear of the 2027 presidential race.

The Bayelsa-born former leader, Okonkwo said, should not even consider or contemplate entering the contest.

In a video shared on X on Friday evening, Okonkwo highlighted that during Jonathan’s nearly six-year tenure as President, he went against certain conventions and norms.

Okonkwo, who previously served as a Labour Party chieftain, argued that allowing Jonathan another four years in office would result in him governing Nigeria for roughly ten years in total, combining his past term with a potential new one.

Speculations about Jonathan’s 2027 presidential bid continue to circulate, but the former president has yet to publicly confirm or deny the rumours.

Earlier this week, the Presidency, via spokesperson Bayo Onanuga, opposed the idea, stressing that the courts will ultimately decide Jonathan’s eligibility.

“My own advice is that Jonathan should not consider contesting for the presidency in 2027. He should not contemplate it,” Okonkwo stated.

“The same forces that nearly destroyed his name when they were not in power are now in power, they will take his name to toilet.”
