Omah Lay Renames His Fanbase “Spirits”

Nigerian singer and songwriter Omah Lay has officially given his fanbase a new identity.

The award-winning artist announced on his social media pages on Thursday, August 21, 2025, that his fans will now be called “Spirits.”

In a brief post, Omah Lay wrote: “From today, my fans are called 💜🕊️ spirits 💜🕊️” signaling the start of a new phase in his relationship with his growing audience.

The singer, whose real name is Stanley Omah Didia, first gained prominence in 2020 with his debut EP Get Layd, which produced hit tracks like Bad Influence and Lo Lo.

He has since become one of Afrobeats’ leading voices, blending Afro-fusion with soul-driven lyrics that resonate deeply with listeners.

Omah Lay’s fanbase has expanded rapidly in Nigeria and internationally, especially after the success of his 2022 debut album Boy Alone and his collaborations with global stars including Justin Bieber.

The new name, “Spirits,” reflects the emotional and almost transcendental connection he has often said his music shares with fans.
