The Ondo State Government has disowned an alleged N8,000 blood-testing exercise involving students of CAC Adu Memorial Grammar School, Oke-Aro, Akure.
The State Ministry of Education, Science and Technology said the exercise was neither authorised nor approved, stressing that no principal had the authority to organise it or collect money from students without official clearance.
The ministry stated this in a statement issued on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, and signed by its spokesperson, Bisi Lawani.
The clarification followed reports that students were allegedly asked to pay N8,000 for the exercise.
The ministry said no government policy required public school students to pay the amount for blood testing, adding that any collection made for the exercise, if established, was unauthorised.

It also disclosed that the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps had been notified and was investigating the circumstances surrounding the report.
The ministry directed school heads to strengthen supervision and comply with approved government policies, warning against unauthorised charges and activities capable of eroding public confidence in the education system.
It urged parents, guardians, students and members of the public to report suspected irregularities and unapproved collections to the relevant authorities.
The ministry said appropriate administrative and legal action would be taken against any official found culpable after investigation.
The development follows earlier government efforts to curb unauthorised levies in Ondo public schools. In September 2024, the state government warned principals and headteachers against imposing charges outside approved school levies after complaints over additional payments for textbooks, uniforms and other items.
The ministry reaffirmed its commitment to protecting students’ welfare and ensuring accountability in public schools.
