Ondo Sets Sights on Industrial Hub Status with 2026 Investment Summit

The Ondo State Government has reiterated its commitment to transforming the state into a leading industrial and investment destination in Nigeria and West Africa.

Dr. Summy Francis, Special Adviser to Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa on Entrepreneurship and Innovation, made the statement on Friday during a press conference on the upcoming Ondo Investment Summit 2026 in Akure.

Francis said the summit reflects Governor Aiyedatiwa’s vision to attract both domestic and international investors to the state and that the administration is committed to institutionalising the summit as an annual platform for sustained engagement with global capital and industry leaders.

“The summit is a strategic economic instrument designed to attract both domestic and international investors and will deliberately reposition Ondo State for long-term growth, competitiveness, and shared prosperity,” Francis said.

He added that the initiative falls under the state’s ‘OUR EASE’ agenda, which aims to simplify business processes, strengthen investor confidence, and accelerate economic advancement through strategic reforms and investor-friendly policies.

Mr. Razaq Obe, a former Commissioner for Energy and member of the summit committee, expressed confidence that the state government would maximise the outcomes of the summit. He noted that investors expressing interest would be contacted within 48 hours of the direct engagement summit.

“Ondo State is a natural hub for business, given its location bordering five states and the longest coastline. Governor Aiyedatiwa wants to turn the state from a civil service base into an industrial hub, expand agricultural value chains, and generate job opportunities,” Obe said.

Emmanuel Omomowo, CEO of the Ondo Development and Investment Promotion Agency, said all sectors, including agriculture, blue economy, bitumen, solid minerals, and silicon sand, would be opened to investors. He added that incentives have been put in place to ensure a smooth investment process.

Governor Aiyedatiwa also expressed the state’s readiness to collaborate with volunteer organisations that complement government efforts in key sectors, describing them as critical partners in the state’s development.

The Ondo Investment Summit 2026 is scheduled to bring together investors, industry leaders, and policymakers to explore opportunities across the state’s economic landscape.
