Feranmi Fasunle Omowunmi, a 200-level student of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko, Ondo State, reportedly died by suicide on Thursday.
An online news, thewhisperer.ng, said Omowunmi with the matriculation number 180503006, of the Political Science Department, was said to have taken sniper on Wednesday.
It was speculated that her action might be connected to a failed relationship, but some of her friends dismissed the speculation, saying that Omowunmi was not into any relationship since she gained admission to the university.
According to the institution, when her friends discovered it, they rushed her to the institution’s health centre from where she was again taken to the Specialist Hospital in lkare.
She was thereafter referred to the Federal Medical Center in Owo on Wednesday.
The spokesman of the institution, Victor Akinpelumi, who confirmed the incident, said management sympathised with the family.
