Onuachu Nets Brace, Sets African Scoring Record As Trabzonspor Beat Kayserispor

Paul Onuachu delivered a brilliant first-half performance on Monday, scoring twice to help Trabzonspor secure a 3–1 victory over Kayserispor in the Süper Lig.

The Nigerian striker struck twice in added time of the first half, finding the net in the 45+2 and 45+7 minutes to give the visitors a comfortable 2–0 lead at the break.

Onuachu’s goals extended his impressive scoring streak to nine consecutive league matches, further underlining his importance to the Turkish side this season.

With the brace, the towering forward also reached 20 league goals, becoming the first African player to hit the milestone across Europe’s top leagues this season.

Trabzonspor strengthened their lead early in the second half when Kayserispor goalkeeper Bilal Bayazit inadvertently turned the ball into his own net in the 53rd minute, making it 3–0 for the away side.

Kayserispor pulled one back late in the game through German Onugkha in the 83rd minute, but the goal proved only a consolation as Trabzonspor held on to claim all three points.

Known for his aerial prowess, Onuachu has earned the nickname “Head Master” this season, with eight of his 20 league goals coming from headers, accounting for 40 per cent of his total tally.

The 2.01m striker’s consistent goal-scoring form continues to place him among the most prolific forwards in European football this campaign.
