Adams Oshiomhole, who represents Edo North in the Senate, raised strong objections to a proposal seeking the creation of a new body for Training and Nigerian Development.
The former Edo State Governor stated his position in a video that circulated online after the Tuesday debate on the floor of the Senate.
He argued that the proposal serves no real purpose, pointing out that various Ministries, Departments, and Agencies already run their own training units.
He questioned the habit of drafting new laws when existing structures perform similar roles.

“What is the meaning of Training and Nigerian Development? We have established several institutions, and every organization has a training department. Why are we creating laws for everything, for Training and Nigerian Development? It doesn’t make sense to me. We are due respect, Sir. Laws are laws and not motions.”
At the end of his submission, the Deputy Senate President, Barau Jibrin, noted Oshiomhole’s position and confirmed that his concerns had been heard.
