Osimhen incomparable to Drogba, says Amuneke

…as Cauet tips Lille star for greatness at Napoli

Former Barcelona star and ex-Super Eagles left wing dazzler, Emmanuel Amuneke, has revealed that Victor Osimhen’s recent physical presence has seen him draw comparisons with Didier Drogba from soccer fans.
Amuneke, however, stressed that the Lille star is not yet on the same level as the Chelsea soccer legend.

“Victor is still young, must do a lot of other things to reach the level of Didier. But, in my opinion, one day, he will also become a stronger force. Maybe just in Serie A,” Amuneke said.

The retired Nigerian international added that he’s unaware of Liverpool’s attempt to hijack Victor Osimhen’s proposed move to Napoli.

The European champions have been heavily linked with a move for the Nigerian international, but Napoli have stolen a march on their Premier League rivals and are poised to announce the signing of the striker.

Ex-Golden Eaglets and Flying Eagles coach Amuneke, who previously tutored Osimhen, reckons that his former pupil will be joining Napoli this summer.

Reacting to Liverpool wanting to hijack Osimhen’s transfer to Napoli, Amuneke said, “I don’t know anything, but I sincerely hope that Osimhen can sign up for the club (Napoli), and continue the path in Europe from the protagonist.

“After the exploits at Charleroi to Lille, Naples, right now, is the right place for his definitive consecration in the championship as in international cups.”

Meanwhile, former Inter Milan, Torino and PSG midfielder, Benoît Cauet, has tipped Osimhen for greatness at Napoli.

The Blues are expected to complete the signing of the Nigeria international in the next six weeks or so when the transfer market officially opens for business in Italy.

Osimhen successfully replicated his performances at Sporting Charleroi, when he moved to Lille last summer with 18 goals in 38 games across all competitions.

Despite less than 100 matches under his belt as a professional, Cauet feels that Osimhen has the qualities needed to succeed in the Italian top-flight.Cauet said, “Osimhen can make the difference; he can make Napoli make a qualitative leap. He is physically strong and this year it has exploded in everyone’s face.

“He is a truly talented young man. Napoli is a great team and he needs to make the qualitative leap. He needs to explode.”
