Victor Osimhen scored for Napoli in a seven-goal thriller against Crotone at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona to keep their push for a Champions League alive.

Osimhen returned back to Naples after helping the Super Eagles to book their ticket for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) and scored against Lesotho in a 3-0 win.

He was handed a starting eleven by manager Genaro Gattuso alongside Dries Mertens, Lorenzo Insigne and Giovanni Di Lorenzo.

Insigne broke the deadlock for the Partenopei in the 19th minute and sparked the contest to life.

Osimhen doubled the lead taking advantage of an Insigne scissors kick and tapped inside the net.

However, his compatriot Simy Nwankwo reduced that deficit back to one almost immediately.

Napoli returned more determined after Gennaro Gattuso’s half-time team talk and Mertens scored to give his team a breather.

Simy again reduced the deficit within three minutes of the second half and gave his teammates the hope of come back.

Napoli kept going though, and they got their reward when Giovanni Di Lorenzo grabbed their fourth of the game’s seven goals with just under 20 minutes to play.

Napoli moved to 5th position with the win and the same points with fourth placed Juventus who have a better goal difference.

Meanwhile, Leicester City has announced the signing of new contract with Kelechi Iheanacho. The 24-year-old Nigeria international that joined from Manchester City in 2017, has his contract extended to 2024.

The Nigerian forward has been in sparkling recent form for the Foxes as he scored nine times in his last nine appearances in all competitions.

That included netting five goals in three Premier League matches in March. And he was named the division’s player of the month.
