Osimhen’s Extra-Time Heroics Send Galatasaray Into Champions League Last 16

Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen produced a moment of magic in extra time as Galatasaray S.K. defeated Juventus F.C. in a thrilling UEFA Champions League playoff encounter, sealing qualification for the round of 16 with a dramatic 7–5 aggregate victory.

Juventus had threatened a stunning comeback after overturning the deficit during regulation time despite being reduced to 10 men.

Midfielder Manuel Locatelli opened the scoring in the 37th minute to ignite belief for the Italian giants. However, their task became more difficult early in the second half when defender Lloyd Kelly received a second yellow card in the 49th minute, leaving Juventus a man short.

Against the odds, Juventus continued to attack relentlessly. Defender Federico Gatti doubled the advantage in the 70th minute before midfielder Weston McKennie struck in the 82nd minute to make it 3–0 on the night, leveling the contest at 5–5 on aggregate and forcing extra time.

With tensions at their peak, Galatasaray found inspiration through Osimhen.

The Super Eagles forward showcased brilliant technique to score in the 105+1 minute of extra time, handing the Turkish champions a crucial lifeline and restoring their aggregate lead.

Galatasaray eventually sealed qualification in dramatic fashion when Barış Alper Yılmaz, who assisted Osimhen’s decisive strike, added a late goal in the 119th minute to confirm victory and silence the home crowd.

The late goals ensured Galatasaray progressed with a commanding 7–5 aggregate triumph, setting up a potential round-of-16 clash against either Liverpool F.C. or Tottenham Hotspur F.C. as the Turkish giants continue their impressive European campaign.
