Osun 2026: APC Leaders Rally Members behind Oyebamiji

Leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Obokun Local Government Area of Osun State have called on the state and national leadership of the party to unite all members behind its governorship candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, ahead of the August 8, 2026, election.

Oyebamiji emerged as the party’s flagbearer through a consensus process after other aspirants reportedly stepped down in his favour. However, concerns have been raised over the commitment of some party members who were dissatisfied with the outcome of the governorship primary as political activities gather momentum.

Rising from a meeting, the APC Leaders’ Forum in the local government urged party members to close ranks and support Oyebamiji to enhance the party’s chances at the poll.

The call was contained in a communiqué issued by the forum’s co-conveners, Olatunbosun Oyintiloye and Tunji Adesokun, and made available to journalists in Osogbo on Sunday.

According to the forum, a united party would ensure an easy victory for Oyebamiji at the election. The communiqué described the governorship candidate as a loyal, committed and experienced politician, stressing that his success must be pursued with unity of purpose.

The forum appealed to party leaders at both the state and national levels to harmonise interests within the party and prevent internal sabotage. It reaffirmed an earlier agreement among APC leaders in the local government that all members should relinquish support for other aspirants once a candidate emerges, regardless of the mode of selection.

While commending party leaders for conducting a peaceful primary, the forum urged them to reconcile aggrieved members to strengthen the party ahead of the election. It warned against divisive tendencies, noting that available indications suggested that the electorate was eager for the return of the APC in the state.

The forum also expressed confidence that with the dedication of party members, victory at the poll would be achievable.

In addition, the group commended President Bola Tinubu, the APC national chairman, Prof Nentawe Yilwatda; the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Alhaji Adegboyega Oyetola; the party’s national secretary, Senator Ajibola Basiru; the Osun State chairman of the party, Sooko Tajudeen Lawal; and the leader of the APC Elders’ Forum in the state, Pa Sola Akinwunmi, among others, for their commitment to the growth of the party.
