Alex Otti has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to inclusive leadership and development driven from the grassroots level, stressing that governance in Abia State remains focused on the needs of the people.
He made this known on Thursday during a community engagement programme held at the Ugwunagbo Local Government Area headquarters, designed to strengthen grassroots participation in governance across the state.
The governor, who was represented at the event by his Chief of Staff, Caleb Ajagba, said the administration is prioritising people-centred policies shaped by the real challenges and aspirations of citizens.
He explained that the engagement initiative was created to allow government officials gain direct insight into community needs.
According to him, “every community and every local government area is unique. Ugwunagbo is particularly unique, which is why we have come to see things for ourselves and interact directly with the people.”
Otti further reiterated his government’s dedication to transparency, accountability, and participatory governance, adding that efforts are ongoing to ensure sustainable development across all sectors of the state economy.

He also urged residents to remain actively involved in democratic processes, including voter registration and obtaining their Permanent Voter Cards ahead of the 2027 general elections, noting that citizens’ participation remains vital to strengthening governance.
According to him, concerns raised during such engagements would be given due consideration, as community interaction remains a key pillar of the administration’s development strategy.
In their separate remarks, the member representing Ugwunagbo State Constituency in the Abia State House of Assembly, Chijioke Uruakpa, and the Commissioner for Housing, Chiemela Uzoije, praised Otti’s performance within his less than three years in office and encouraged residents to support his re-election ambition in 2027.
The Mayor of Ugwunagbo LGA, Hon. Chiemela Iheanacho, while welcoming the governor, lauded what he described as transformational projects delivered by Otti in Ugwunagbo and across Abia State.
Speaking on behalf of traditional rulers from the 17 local government areas, the Chairman of the Abia State Traditional Rulers Council, HRM Eze Linus Nto Mbah, also highlighted the administration’s achievements and urged continued public support to sustain ongoing development.
Since assuming office in May 2023, Otti’s administration has pursued reforms and projects spanning infrastructure renewal, healthcare improvements, education upgrades, and community-based initiatives aimed at enhancing service delivery across the state.
