Residents of Otukpo, Benue State, took to the streets on Monday to protest the escalating wave of killings and kidnappings plaguing their community.
The demonstrators, numbering in the hundreds, blocked major roads while chanting, “We no go gree!” as they demanded urgent intervention from the government and security agencies.
One protester, Daniel Oche, voiced deep concerns over the frequent attacks, describing them as a “constant recurrence.”
He further alleged that power is deliberately cut off in the area before each assault, raising suspicions of possible complicity.
“This has been happening again and again. We are not safe in our own homes. And have you noticed? NEPA (JEDC) always takes light before every operation. It’s like they don’t want us to see what’s coming,” Oche stated.
