Oyinlola Rejects Adeleke’s Move to Accord Party, Blames Tinubu for PDP Crisis

Former Osun State Governor, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, has distanced himself from Governor Ademola Adeleke’s defection to the Accord Party, declaring that he remains loyal to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and will not abandon it except if the party ceases to exist.

Oyinlola made the remarks on Thursday, December 11, while speaking at the second matriculation ceremony of Alolade Oyinlola College of Health Sciences and Information Technology in Okuku, Osun State, where about 90 students were formally admitted.

“I won’t leave PDP unless it goes into extinction. I am not following Demola to Accord (Party). At my age, I can’t be pushed around. I’m gradually leaving active politics. I will be 75 in February (2026),” Oyinlola said.

The former military administrator of Lagos State also accused President Bola Tinubu of orchestrating the ongoing crises within the PDP to weaken the opposition ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

“The problem would have been solved but for the interference of Tinubu. He sees PDP as a major challenge poised on his 2027 ambition. He doesn’t want to run, he wants to walk into the Villa,” he claimed.

First Daily earlier reports that Oyinlola described the Accord Party as a “fair option” for Adeleke’s 2026 re-election, but he now insists he will only align with parties that share his ideological beliefs.

“If we were to opt for APGA, it would be a one-shot chance. The Accord Party is a fair option. I know how the Accord Party was formed and its founder, Olusegun Obasanjo,” he said.

Governor Adeleke officially joined the Accord Party on Tuesday, announcing via his X handle: “Today, we unveiled the Accord Party, our new platform for the good people of Osun State… this is our party, our new platform for victory come August next year.”
