Oyo Fire Service Averts Tanker Explosion on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway

The Oyo State Fire Service on Monday averted a potential disaster after a Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) tanker was involved in a lone accident on the busy Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

The tanker, which was transporting 26 tonnes of LPG, overturned near the Sat Guru Maharaj area, close to the Ibadan end of the old toll plaza.

Confirming the incident in a statement on Tuesday, the Chairman of the Oyo State Fire Service, Maroof Akinwande, said the swift intervention of firefighters prevented what could have been a major explosion.

Akinwande, however, stated that no lives were lost in the incident and that normalcy had been restored to the road as of the time of going to press on Tuesday.
