Oyo Moves To Partner Media On Sanitation Push

The Oyo State Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources has intensified collaboration with media organisations as part of efforts to strengthen its sanitation campaign and promote environmental awareness across the state.

The Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources, Ademola Aderinto, on Tuesday led a delegation of senior ministry officials on courtesy visits to leading indigenous radio stations in Ibadan.

The visits, according to the commissioner, form part of a renewed roadmap to engage the media as key stakeholders and effective amplifiers of the state’s environmental policies, with the aim of ensuring that the vision of a cleaner and greener Oyo State resonates across communities.

“Maintaining a clean Oyo State cannot be achieved by the government alone, but requires the active support and partnership of the media,” Aderinto said.

He described the media as a powerful instrument for public enlightenment, behavioural change and sustained civic engagement, adding that the ministry is committed to deploying a more communication-driven sanitation strategy to encourage compliance with environmental regulations and promote responsible waste disposal practices.

At 32FM, the General Manager, Peter Omoh, assured the commissioner of the station’s readiness to partner with the ministry in promoting environmental awareness. He pledged support for initiatives aimed at ensuring a safe, healthy and habitable environment for residents.

The delegation also visited Fresh FM Nigeria, owned by Yinka Ayefele, as part of the outreach to strengthen media collaboration on environmental advocacy.
