Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, on Monday presented a N891.99 billion appropriation bill for the 2026 fiscal year to the state House of Assembly, marking a significant increase from the N684 billion approved for 2025.
The presentation took place at the state House of Assembly in Ibadan and was attended by prominent traditional rulers, including the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Akeem Owoade, and the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja.
Governor Makinde outlined that N389.34 billion of the proposed budget is earmarked for recurrent expenditure, while N502.65 billion is allocated to capital expenditure.

In terms of sectoral allocation, the Infrastructure sector leads with N210.02 billion, followed by Education with N155.21 billion, Health with N70.81 billion, and Agriculture with N19.99 billion. Other multisectoral allocations account for N435.9 billion.
The governor’s proposal emphasizes investment in key sectors aimed at boosting development and service delivery across the state. Further details on the budget are expected to follow.
