ODAHIEKWU OGUNDE, Yenagoa
Mr Salvation Ibena Rufus, a former Special Adviser to ex-Bayelsa State Governor, Seriake Dickson, has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to confirm the appointment of the Interim Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme, Col. Milland Dikio (retd).
Rufus, who is also the Chairman of the Phase II Amnesty Programme beneficiaries, made the call in a statement made available to journalists on Saturday.
The renowned youth leader also called on all ex-agitators and beneficiaries of the programme to support Dikio because his success would be in the interest of the Ijaw nation and the region.
Rufus, who said the Amnesty boss had tackled restiveness and agitations among PAP’s beneficiaries, indicated that Dikio had been tested and found worthy to achieve set goals of the scheme.
He said: “We commend the pragmatic leadership style of the Interim Adminstrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP), Col Milland Dikio (rtd).
“The choice of a seasoned adminstrator like Dikio as the Amnesty boss is a good thing that has happened to the Niger Delta region due to his level of understanding of the programme in the region. He is indeed a square peg in a square hole and deserves more encouragement.
“We, therefore, urge President Buhari to confirm his appointment immediately as he has been in the saddle of managing beneficiaries and for a long time now with plenty of success to showcase.”
He lauded Dikio for the appointment of Honourable Alfred Kemepado as the Head of Reintegration (HOR) in the PAP.
Rufus described the appointment of Kemepado as timely and well deserved, noting that he has what it takes to deliver in his new portfolio.
He urged all stakeholders in the Niger Delta to set aside their differences and support Dikio in the overall interest of the people to succeed in rewriting the history of PAP.
