An early morning passenger train travelling from Kaduna to Abuja on Monday, March 16, failed to reach its destination after colliding with another train along the rail corridor, leaving several passengers injured.
Passengers aboard the Kaduna–Abuja train service reported that the Abuja-bound train clashed with another train, forcing operations to halt along the route.
One of the passengers, identified as Sada Malumfashi, took to his X account to describe the incident.
“Just dropped from the Kaduna-Abuja train. We heard a loud bang and the train jolted to a stop flinging people across. Passengers got hit and most are bleeding and severely injured.
“Train delayed for some 30 minutes and resumed to Kubwa. No communication from @Info_NRC,” Malumfashi posted.

According to his account, the impact of the collision threw passengers across the train, resulting in bleeding and severe injuries.
The train was delayed for approximately 30 minutes before resuming operations to Kubwa, a suburb of Abuja.
Malumfashi also noted that there was no communication from the Nigerian Railway Corporation regarding the incident or the status of passengers.
As of the time of writing this report, there has been no official statement from the NRC.
The Kaduna–Abuja rail line remains a critical transport link for thousands of passengers who rely on the service daily due to security concerns and heavy road traffic along the highway connecting the two cities.
