The Lagos State Police Command has confirmed that Pastor Paul Adefarasin, founder of House on the Rock Church, has been released on bail after facing questioning over a widely circulated video.
The viral clip showed Adefarasin inside a black Range Rover, rolling down his tinted window and pointing what appeared to be a weapon at a content creator on the road before driving off.
The video sparked online outrage, with many accusing the pastor of brandishing a firearm.
Adefarasin turned himself in at the police headquarters in Lagos and was interrogated by investigators.
The police, in a statement issued on the 18th of June, 2025, said the object in question was not a firearm but a stun gun.
“A stun gun is a portable, battery-operated device designed for self-defence. It delivers a high-voltage electrical shock to temporarily incapacitate an attacker, causing intense pain and muscle contractions,” the police said.

Though non-lethal, stun guns can still cause injuries.
The police clarified the situation: “Paul Adefarasin, who turned himself in today at the Lagos State Police Command over a viral video where he was seen holding a gun-like object against another road user, was interrogated and he volunteered cautionary statement to the police investigators.”
They also confirmed the seizure of the stun gun and his conditional release: “What was recovered from him, the gun-like object seen in the viral video, is not a lethal weapon or firearm but a stun gun, which is a prohibited anti-riot equipment. The pastor has been granted bail while investigations continue into the case.”
The case remains open as police review the legality of the stun gun and the circumstances surrounding its use.
