Former deputy national Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Chief Olabode George, says the party’s National Chairman, Dr. Iyorchia Ayu, must vacate his seat before the campaigns for the 2023 elections kick off.
The Independent National Electoral Commission has released a timetable indicating that campaigns will commence on September 28, 2022.
But George, who spoke in Port Harcourt, Rivers State capital, on Thursday, said it’s unfair for the PDP National Chairman, presidential candidate and Chairman BoT to be come the same zone.
The PDP chieftain said the right thing to do is for Ayu to vacate his seat before the campaign, warning that it will not be right to go into the campaign with a divided house.
He said what the Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike is asking for is the right thing and in the interest of justice, peace and unity of the party.
Wike has been at loggerheads with Ayu and has been on the frontline in the quest by some PDP chieftains to oust the party chairman.
