PDP Factions Show Readiness For Reconciliation — Olawepo-Hashim

Former presidential aspirant Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim has indicated that rival blocs within the Peoples Democratic Party are showing willingness to resolve their differences.

He shared this on Wednesday, the 11th of March, 2026, during a live appearance on Prime Time on Arise Television.

Olawepo-Hashim addressed the recent decision of the Court of Appeal which dismissed the faction of the party linked to Taminu Turaki.

The appellate court in Abuja affirmed an earlier ruling by the Federal High Court delivered on the 31st of October, 2025.

That judgment barred the Independent National Electoral Commission from recognising the outcome of the PDP’s 2025 National Convention.

Reacting to the development, Olawepo-Hashim said discussions toward peace within the party had already begun and that both sides were now openly showing interest in reconciliation.

“It is positive that both parties already agree that the path of contestation at the apex court is not helpful to the party, and there is an urgent need for an agreement.

“Well, the good news is that we are seeing a public acknowledgement of the readiness for reconciliation among the parties, and these talks we’ve been having already, and even the various groups have been talking among themselves.

“So I see it as positive that there is a public acknowledgement. I’m also aware that the other side, in their meeting that is just ending, already decided also to have the talks and to reconcile.

“So there is a readiness for reconciliation on both sides. And for me, that is positive. I think this is the next step, and that’s quite positive, and I’m quite glad about that. I’m grateful to God for that,” Olawepo-Hashim said.
