PDP formally kicks off presidential campaign In Akwa Ibom

Four months before the February 25, 2023, presidential election, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has set off its presidential campaign in Akwa Ibom State.

The event is taking place at the Nest of Champions Stadium in Uyo, the state capital.

Dignitaries in the South-South state include the party’s presidential candidate and former Vice President, Akitu Abubakar, his running mate, and Delta State Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa, and Akwa Ibom State Governor, Udom Emmanuel.

Others are Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, and his Adamawa counterpart, Ahmadu Fintiri, former legislator for Kogi West, Dino Melaye among other prominent party figures.

In a post on his Twitter handle, Atiku indicated that he arrived in Uyo last night. Expressing his excitement at being at Akwa Ibom State.

Meanwhile, Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike and his friends including Abia State Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu, and Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde were absent.

The crisis rocking the PDP took a deeper form after Wike lost to Atiku in the PDP presidential primaries.

Several attempts to placate the Wike camp appear like pouring water on solid rock as the governor and his group have neglected the party’s activities.

Campaigns for the 2023 general election started on 28 September by the calendar and schedule of activities of the Independent National Electoral Commission.
