PDP Gov candidate, Melaye boycotts Kogi poll

Governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the Kogi state election, Senator Dino Melaye, on Saturday, boycotted the ongoing exercise across the 21 local government areas of the state.

Melaye, it was learnt, was not seen in his unit 004, ward 002, Iluafon quarters, Aiyetoro Gbede, Ijumu Local Government Area to cast his vote.

The PDP flagbearer, who was said to be in his country home with some of his people, stayed away from the exercise.

A PDP chieftain in the town who pleaded anonymity, said Melaye did not vote because he believed the election result was already predetermined.

He said, “Oga (Melaye) deliberately stayed away from the exercise so as not to give the election credibility. We are quite aware where the pendulum will swing because the outcome is already predetermined.”

Voting commenced around 8:30 am in the PDP governorship candidate’s polling unit and ended at exactly 2pm.
