As the Peoples Democratic Party holds its official campaign inauguration for the Ondo State governorship election in Akure on Saturday, the people of the state have been commended for their unalloyed support for the party’s candidate, Mr. Eyitayo Jegede (SAN).
Giving the commendation in a press statement on Friday, the Chairman, Media and Publicity Committee of Eyitayo Jegede Campaign Organisation (EJCO), Dr. Benson Enikuomehin, said, “We are simply overwhelmed and full of gratitude.”
According to him, “having traversed virtually all communities in the course of his pre-campaign visits and consultations, our flagbearer, Mr. Eyitayo Jegede (SAN), is fully convinced that the masses of Ondo State are all behind him”.
Enikuomehin noted that Jegede’s test of popularity had been made manifest in the teaming crowd often witnessed anywhere he visits.
He said, “We are simply overwhelmed and full of gratitude for your unalloyed support for Eyitayo Jegede and the PDP.
“In the course of village meetings, town meetings, various consultations and visits to our people across the 18 local government areas, we were simply humbled by the teaming crowds of people, who trooped out to show us love and affection.”
He assured that Jegede, who contested for the governorship position in 2016 on the PDP platform, would deliver on all his pre-election promises as contained in his action-plan titled, “My Offer”.
Enikuomehin, however, said that in line with COVID-19 protocols, all party supporters had been told to wear face-masks and that hand-sanitisers would be provided at strategic points during the inauguration.
He also urged the security agencies in the state to discharge their duties creditably, in maintaining law and order at the event, noting that Jegede and his running mate, Hon. Gboluga Ikengboju, are peace-loving leaders.
“Above all, we invite the good people of Ondo State, from the length and breath of the state, to come out en masse and receive Jegede, their cherished candidate,” Enikuomehin said.
Expected at the campaign inauguration are PDP National Chairman, Prince Uche Secondus and his team; Chairman of the PDP Ondo Governorship Campaign Committee and governor of Oyo State, Mr. Seyi Makinde; other PDP governors; PDP National and State Assemblies members, and other party leaders.
Also billed to grace the event is former Vice President and PDP presidential candidate in the 2019 presidential election, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.
