PENGASSAN Suspends Strike, Cautions Dangote to Honour Peace Deal

The Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) has called off its nationwide strike after days of tense negotiations.

At a press conference on Wednesday, October 1, in Abuja, PENGASSAN President Festus Osifo said the decision followed a meeting with the National Security Adviser and the management of Dangote Refinery.

He explained that while progress was made, some issues were yet to be fully resolved.

“Grey areas remain in the communiqué, which both the government and refinery management could not fully clarify,” Osifo admitted.

Despite these concerns, he said the union chose to suspend the strike in good faith to give room for implementation of the agreements reached.

However, Osifo warned that the union would not hesitate to resume industrial action if Dangote Refinery failed to keep its side of the bargain.

“We will not give any notice if the agreement is breached,” he cautioned.
