People Paid to Get Ministerial Appointments in Tinubu’s Govt — El-Rufai Alleges

Former Kaduna State governor, Malam Nasir El-Rufai, has made a startling revelation, claiming he is aware of individuals who secured ministerial positions in President Bola Tinubu’s administration by paying for them.

Speaking candidly in an interview with BBC Hausa, El-Rufai dismissed speculations that his withdrawal from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) was fueled by his own ministerial disappointment. He asserted that his ordeal with the appointment process had no bearing on his decision to step back.

According to him, if the party had outrightly expelled him, it would have spared him the burden of justifying his departure. Instead, he insisted that it was the APC that drifted away from him and its founding principles not the other way around.

“Did I seek to be a minister? I know people who paid to get ministerial appointments,” El-Rufai remarked when asked whether his exit was linked to not securing a ministerial position.

He further lamented that those who dedicated themselves to the party’s success were often overlooked and left unrewarded.
