Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate for 2023, has voiced his support for the nationwide protest scheduled for August, emphasizing the constitutional right to protest.
During a courtesy visit to Abia State Governor Alex Otti, Obi urged protesters to remain within the law and avoid violence.
He highlighted hunger and hopelessness among the youth as driving forces behind the protest and called on authorities to engage with and listen to the demonstrators.
“There is nothing wrong with people engaging in protest,” Obi stated.
“All I plea for those who are protesting is to do so within the law and in a civil manner.”
He also urged security agencies to provide protection for the protesters while operating within legal boundaries.
