Peter Obi Celebrates Tems’ Grammy Triumph, Hails Her Global Impact

The 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, has extended his heartfelt congratulations to Nigerian music sensation Tems for her remarkable triumph at the 67th annual Grammy Awards.

Tems’ electrifying track, Love Me Jeje, clinched the coveted Best African Music Performance award, surpassing strong contenders such as Tomorrow (Yemi Alade), MMS (Asake & Wizkid), Sensational (Chris Brown featuring Davido & Lojay), and Higher (Burna Boy) in a fiercely competitive category.

Reacting on the 3rd of January, 2025, via his X handle, Obi not only celebrated Tems’ victory but also applauded the resilience and talent of other Nigerian artists who earned Grammy nominations despite missing out on the awards.
“I extend my hearty congratulations to our Nigerian Afrobeats star, Tems @temsbaby, who just secured her second Grammy Award with her win in the Best African Music Performance category,” his statement read.

He further praised the country’s thriving entertainment industry, acknowledging the efforts of all nominated Nigerian artists.

“I also rejoice with Nigeria’s entertainment industry and other Nigerian artists who were nominated for different awards in their respective categories,” he added.

Beyond the celebrations, Obi reaffirmed his dedication to “building a nation that fosters growth among the youths and helps them discover and harness their individual talents for national productivity.”

His message underscores a broader vision, one where Nigerian youth are empowered to thrive on both local and global stages.
