Dumebi Kachikwu, the 2023 presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has alleged that Peter Obi is already weighing his options to exit the coalition platform formed by the opposition.
Obi, who contested under the Labour Party (LP) in 2023, recently joined other political figures to float the ADC as a united coalition to challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 elections.
However, just days after the launch, Obi declared his 2027 presidential ambition while still holding on to his LP membership.
Kachikwu, appearing on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics, on Sunday, July 20, suggested Obi had realised the coalition was never truly for all contenders.

“The whole ADC structure is being packaged for the former Vice President Atiku Abubakar,” Kachikwu said.
“Since I started warning people about what is happening, we can see what is happening within the coalition. Someone like Mr Peter Obi now understands that the whole coalition was packaged for Atiku Abubakar.
“From our understanding, what we are seeing now is that he is looking in other directions, and other people who aspire to run now realise that the coalition was indeed no coalition. It was just a vehicle for Atiku Abubakar’s ambition.”
He stressed that the ADC would not be a tool for Atiku’s 2027 run, warning that the next election should not serve the interests of the political elite.
Kachikwu said he would remain vocal in educating citizens about their rights and the need to resist political manipulation.
