A tragic petrol tanker explosion on Wednesday wreaked havoc on Karu Bridge along the Abuja-Nyanya-Keffi Road, leaving several vehicles gutted by flames and sparking fears of multiple casualties.
The incident occurred when a tanker transporting Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) lost control and crashed on the bridge, igniting a massive fire that rapidly engulfed at least 30 vehicles.
Eyewitnesses described scenes of panic and chaos as motorists and passengers scrambled to escape the inferno. Many abandoned their vehicles in a desperate bid to flee the raging flames.
Emergency responders, including firefighters, medical teams, and security personnel, swiftly arrived at the scene to contain the blaze and assist victims.
Military personnel were also deployed to secure the area and direct traffic away from the disaster zone.
