The Federal High Court in Abuja has issued a bench warrant for the arrest of Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi, the self-proclaimed Director-General of the alleged Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council (PFIPC), an organisation authorities say does not exist.
Justice Mohammed Umar made the order on Tuesday after the Nigeria Police applied for Adeyemi’s arrest over his failure to appear in court for arraignment.
Police prosecutor, Wisdom Madaki, urged the court to compel the defendant’s appearance, noting that Adeyemi had repeatedly failed to honour court proceedings.
The defendant was scheduled to take his plea on an eight-count charge bordering on alleged forgery, fraud and impersonation in suit number FHC/ABJ/CR/562/2025.
Although the case was listed for hearing and defence counsel, Genesis Francis, informed the court that he was representing Adeyemi, the defendant himself was absent.
The prosecution argued that the repeated absence of the accused was delaying the trial and requested the court to issue a warrant for his arrest.

Justice Umar granted the application and directed security agencies to produce Adeyemi before the court.
The latest development comes after the defendant also failed to appear before the same court on Tuesday for his scheduled arraignment over allegations of certificate forgery.
Adeyemi is facing multiple criminal charges linked to his alleged operation of the purported Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council, which investigators have described as a fictitious government agency.
His prosecution also includes allegations of forging official documents, impersonation and fraud.
The court is expected to fix a new date for his arraignment after his arrest.
