PGF Dismisses Reports Of Uzodimma’s Removal As Forum Chairman

The Progressive Governors Forum has denied reports alleging that Hope Uzodimma was removed as chairman of the forum, describing the claims as false and misleading.

In a statement issued on Thursday, the Director General of the forum, Folorunso Aluko, said there was no meeting or resolution where such a decision was taken.

“The attention of the Progressive Governors Forum has been drawn to a false and misleading report circulating in some media platforms alleging the removal of its Chairman, His Excellency, Senator Hope Uzodimma, CON,” the statement read.

The forum stressed that Uzodimma remains the substantive chairman of the body, adding that the secretariat had no record of any move to replace him.

“For the avoidance of doubt, the Progressive Governors Forum states categorically that the report is entirely false, baseless, and without an iota of truth,” the statement added.

According to the forum, no official discussion or resolution concerning the removal of the Imo State governor was ever held.

“The PGF secretariat has no record of, and is not aware of, any resolution removing the Chairman. His Excellency, Senator Hope Uzodimma, CON, remains the Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum,” it stated.

The forum further maintained that it remains united and focused on promoting good governance and strengthening collaboration among governors elected on the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress.

The statement urged members of the public and media organisations to disregard the reports, insisting that the information being circulated was aimed at causing confusion within the forum.

The Progressive Governors Forum is a coalition of governors elected under the platform of the APC and serves as a policy and strategy platform for the party’s state chief executives.
