A military airstrike have destroyed major terrorist logistics base in Borno State, and killing many fighters.
The strike was carried out on April 11, 2026, by the Air Component of Operation HADIN KAI, targeting a known enclave near Jilli in Gubio Local Government Area.
This was disclosed in a statement by the Media Information Officer, Headquarters Joint Task Force, Sani Uba, on Sunday.
According to the statement, the location had long been identified as a key movement corridor and hideout for fighters linked to Islamic State West Africa Province.
Uba said the operation followed weeks of sustained Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) missions over the Bindul–Jilli axis.
The area has been under close watch since January, when troops traveling from Gubio to Damasak were hit by an improvised explosive device at Bindul, killing eight soldiers and injuring several others.
Tensions escalated further after coordinated attacks on April 9 in Ngamdu and Benisheik, believed to have been supported by the same logistics network.
In response, the military intensified aerial surveillance and intelligence gathering across the region.
It was gathered that suspicious movements were detected on April 11, including motorcycles and gun trucks converging near Jilli.
These observations were corroborated by human intelligence, confirming the presence of terrorists, collaborators, and logistics handlers.
Following a multi-layered verification process, air assets carried out a series of precision strikes on the target.
Real-time surveillance confirmed the destruction of the enclave, with multiple vehicles and equipment obliterated.
Scores of terrorists were neutralised,” a military statement said, adding that surviving fighters fled in different directions after the attack.

Further intelligence revealed that the group had been preparing logistics for planned attacks on military positions within the Gubio axis, suggesting the strike may have prevented imminent casualties.
In a related development, troops arrested a suspected logistics courier identified as “Turja Bulu” in Ngamdu on April 12.
During preliminary interrogation, he reportedly confessed to participating in the April 9 attack on a military brigade in Benisheik and disclosed that he had been sent from Jilli to deliver supplies to other terrorists cells operating around the Magumeri-Gubio area.
The military disclosed that the operation underscores their resolve to dismantle terrorist networks and deny insurgents freedom of movement across the region.
They also reiterated that the use of motorcycles remains strictly prohibited in Borno and neighboring Yobe State, citing their frequent use by insurgents for transportation and attacks.
Operation HADIN KAI assured residents that counter-terrorism efforts would continue with increased intensity until lasting peace is restored in the North East.
