Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, on Wednesday, April 15, held a meeting with envoys and representatives of several diplomatic missions in Abuja.

Details of the engagement were disclosed in a post on X by Esther Umoh, his campaign photographer during the 2023 elections, who said the former Anambra State governor met with officials from multiple embassies.

According to her, the meeting included “representatives from several diplomatic missions, including the British High Commissioner, and the embassies of Germany, Canada, and France.”

The purpose of the discussions was not made public, as neither Obi nor the diplomatic missions issued an official statement on the meeting.

However, the timing of the engagement has attracted political attention, coming shortly after the African Democratic Congress (ADC) national convention held in Abuja.

The meeting has further fuelled speculation around ongoing political consultations and possible realignments ahead of the 2027 general elections, as key political actors continue behind-the-scenes engagements.
