PHOTOS: Troops Foil Kidnapping Attempt, Rescue Three Victims in Taraba

Troops of 6 Brigade Nigerian Army/Sector 3, Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), have foiled a kidnapping attempt and rescued three victims during a swift, intelligence-driven operation in Taraba State.

This was made known in a statement signed by the Acting Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, 6 Brigade, Lt. Umar Muhammad, and shared on the Nigerian Army’s Facebook page on Tuesday.

According to the statement, the operation was carried out on Monday, January 5, after troops deployed at Jeb Jeb town received credible intelligence on the activities of suspected kidnappers in Sangai Village, Bachama Ward of Karim Lamido Local Government Area.

Acting on the information, the troops were immediately mobilised and pursued the suspects towards the Taraba–Plateau border area.

On sighting the advancing soldiers, the kidnappers abandoned their captives and fled into the surrounding area.

The troops subsequently rescued three victims identified as Nimron Umar (25), Abafaras Ibrahim (20) and Habila Yunusa (23).

The rescued persons are currently in military custody, where they are receiving necessary care and documentation before being reunited with their families.

Commending the troops for their professionalism and swift response, the Commander of 6 Brigade Nigerian Army, Brigadier Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, reaffirmed the brigade’s commitment to sustaining offensive operations across the state to deny criminal elements freedom of action and ensure lasting peace and security in Taraba and its environs.

He also called on members of the public to continue supporting security agencies with timely and credible information, stressing that public cooperation remains critical to the success of ongoing military operations.
