Troops of Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have rescued kidnapped victims, foiled an attempted abduction and arrested suspected terrorist logistics suppliers with 10 motorcycles during separate operations in Zamfara, Katsina and Kebbi states.
The operations, conducted on July 19 and 20, 2026, form part of the military’s sustained offensive against terrorist and criminal networks across the North-West.
According to a statement issued on Tuesday by the Media Information Officer, Lt. Aliyu Danja, troops responded to a distress call on July 20 after terrorists attempted to abduct residents of Shiyan Abiyola in Kaura Namoda Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
The troops swiftly mobilised to the community, forcing the attackers to abandon the operation and flee the area.
Several residents targeted in the attempted abduction were rescued unharmed, while troops maintained a strong presence in the community to prevent further attacks.
In a separate operation on July 19, troops on patrol in Faskari Local Government Area of Katsina State rescued three kidnapped victims who escaped from a terrorist hideout.
The victims had been abducted on July 14, 2026, while working on their farms in Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
The military said the victims seized the opportunity to flee after a heavy downpour when their captors fell asleep.
They were later found by troops and handed over to the appropriate authorities for reunification with their families.
