Hundreds of youths took to the streets of Makurdi on Sunday to protest the escalating violence and insecurity in Benue State.
Defying tight security measures in the state capital, the demonstrators gathered at the busy Wurukum area, expressing outrage over the frequent killings plaguing their communities.
Dressed in black and carrying palm fronds, the protesters held placards with various inscriptions demanding an end to the bloodshed.
They also barricaded a major road, bringing traffic to a standstill and sparking concern among commuters.

The protest comes in response to a surge in deadly attacks across the state, particularly in Guma, Gwer West, and Apa local government areas.
According to report, suspected armed herders had earlier launched deadly assaults on Yelwata and Daudu towns in Guma LGA, reportedly killing hundreds, including several security personnel.
The protesters called on the government to take urgent action to protect lives and restore peace to the state.
