The Nigeria Police Force says it has successfully repatriated a notorious Chinese fugitive, Mr. Dai Qisheng, in a landmark international operation coordinated through the INTERPOL National Central Bureau (NCB) in Abuja.

Mr. Qisheng, a gang leader wanted in Guizhou Province, China, for leading violent organized crimes, fled his home country in 2024 after the Public Security Bureau of Zhijin County issued a warrant for his arrest.

He later sought refuge in Nigeria, where he was tracked and arrested by operatives of INTERPOL NCB Abuja on August 8, 2025, in Abuja.

Following his arrest, the fugitive was repatriated to Beijing on August 15, 2025, under the framework of police-to-police cooperation involving INTERPOL NCB Beijing and the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Nigeria.

In a statement released on Sunday by the Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the operation reaffirms the Nigeria Police Force’s resolve to deny fugitives safe haven in the country.

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olukayode Egbetokun, described the arrest and repatriation as a strong message to criminals across the world that Nigeria will not tolerate fugitives using its borders as a shield.

He further emphasised the importance of international partnerships in tackling transnational organized crime, stressing that the Force will continue to strengthen intelligence-sharing and operational collaboration with global partners.
