The Plateau State Government has dismissed claims that it failed to meet the statutory deadline for submitting its 2024 audited financial statements to the Federal Government.
The Foundation for Investigative Journalism (FIJ) had named Plateau among states allegedly in default, stating that it did not comply with the submission requirements for the year under review.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the 13th of August, 2025, the Accountant-General of the state, Naanre Asabe Manset, said the claim was inaccurate.
She explained that the financial statements were forwarded to the Auditor-General in May 2025, audited, and sent to the House of Assembly in June 2025.

According to her, the lawmakers approved the documents, which were then published online on the 30th of July, 2025, within the nine-month legal window.
Manset questioned the basis for FIJ’s allegation and called for the correction of the report to remove Plateau from the list of non-compliant states. She reiterated the administration’s stance on transparency, accountability, and timely financial disclosures.
