The Edo State Police Command has arrested 12 suspected cultists during a joint operation with the Edo State Security Corps in Uzairue, Auchi, Edo North.
The suspects were apprehended at Amazing Grace Estate in Elele Community following what police described as a swift response to credible intelligence about planned violent attacks.
In a statement issued on Monday, the command’s spokesperson, CSP Eno Ikoedem, disclosed that the operation was carried out on May 7, 2026, at about 6:00 p.m.
According to the police, the suspects allegedly mobilised from Okpella with the intention of attacking rival cult groups before security operatives intercepted them.
Those arrested were identified as Abiola Anabgaifo, Idogo Joshua, Oseni Sani, Aminu Abubakar, Iyamah Precious, Usman Rapheal, Ogene Jude, Ibrahim Akeem, Tunde Bright, Jude Edeh, Godwin Edeh, and Aigbona Clifford.
Police authorities revealed that preliminary investigations showed that seven of the suspects admitted to belonging to cult groups, with some allegedly linked to the notorious Aye and Vikings confraternities.

Security operatives also recovered a grey Mercedes-Benz Jeep with registration number GWA 471 DS, reportedly owned by one Balogun Isreal, who is currently on the run.
The Commissioner of Police in Edo State, Monday Agbonika, praised the officers involved in the operation for their professionalism and rapid response.
He reiterated the command’s determination to intensify its clampdown on cultism and other violent crimes across the state.
According to the statement, all arrested suspects have been transferred to the Anti-Cultism Unit for further investigation and prosecution.
The command also issued a warning to criminal elements operating in Edo State, stressing that security agencies remain committed to protecting lives and maintaining peace in the state.
