Police Arrest 20, Recover Arms in Taraba Criminal Hideout Raid

The Nigeria Police Force has apprehended 20 suspects and recovered various arms and ammunition during a raid on a suspected criminal hideout in Taraba State.

The operation, executed on Wednesday at the Wamunchi dry season rice farms, followed actionable intelligence, according to a police statement.

Security analyst Zagazola Makama disclosed details of the raid in a post on his official X (formerly Twitter) handle.

The post confirmed that the operation yielded the recovery of one AK-47 rifle, seven rounds of live ammunition, three Dane guns, a bow and arrow, and a motorcycle.

Speaking on the development, the police spokesperson said, “The 20 male suspects are currently in custody and undergoing profiling. The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation.”

Commending the officers for their swift action, the Inspector General of Police (IGP) reaffirmed the force’s commitment to dismantling criminal networks and ensuring the safety of residents in Taraba and across the country.

The police further appealed to the public to support security agencies by providing credible information that could aid ongoing efforts to combat crime in the state.
