The Anambra State Police Command has arrested a 22-year-old suspected cultist, Favour Izunna, popularly known as “Njoku,” over his alleged involvement in a string of murders and kidnapping operations in Obosi community, Idemili North Local Government Area.
The arrest was confirmed in a statement issued on Wednesday by the command’s spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, who disclosed that operatives of the Special Anti-Cultism Unit in Enugwu Ukwu apprehended the suspect during a raid on a criminal hideout.
According to the police, Izunna is a member of the notorious Vikings Confraternity, where he allegedly served as an executioner responsible for violent attacks in Obosi and surrounding areas.
Items recovered during the operation include a pump-action gun, five live cartridges, a locally made Beretta pistol, and seven rounds of 7.5mm ammunition.
Ikenga said the arrest followed actionable intelligence and confessions obtained during ongoing investigations. He noted that the operation was supported by operatives of the Rapid Response Squad based in Awkuzu.
During interrogation, the suspect reportedly confessed to participating in multiple killings within the community.

In addition to the murder allegations, the suspect also reportedly confessed to taking part in several kidnapping operations across the state. Some of the victims were identified as Emeka Chukwuka and Chinelo Onyeka, among others.
Reacting to the development, the Commissioner of Police in the state, Ikioye Orutugu, directed intensified efforts to apprehend other members of the gang and their sponsors who are currently at large.
